Purpose of today
  • To launch the Network for local authority
    managers of Physical and Sensory Impairment
    Services
  • To share ideas about key priorities and think
    about development and services in the future
  • By the end of the day, to have a clear idea of
    how we will develop the Network

Why a Network ?
  • A proposal from the Physical and Sensory
    Impairment Working Group, formed by ADSS and
    AWASH
  • No National Service Framework (NSF) or strategic
    / policy framework as there are for other
    services
  • New thinking is needed around service models to
    promote independence
  • The impact of resource issues and complex funding
    needs to be understood and communicated

    ?
  • Key issues and priorities for the future are
    there common areas of interest emerging ?
  • The Social Model of Disability do we agree on
    what it is and how can we promote it across all
    local authority and health activity ?
  • The future role of the Network how can we best
    support managers and link together ?
