  • Original program applied in Dow N.A.
  • Dow Europe modified the concept
  • Promotion of industry approach

  • Dow targeted 48 carriers for BBS implementation
  • Represent close to 90 of the volume and 80 of
    the shipments
  • By end of Q32004, 80 of these were at stage 1
    or higher and over
  • 50 at stage 2 of higher
  • Encouraging feedback from carriers
  • Same approach now being promoted by Dow in N.A.
    via the AAC

SQAS at Dow
  • DOW requires its contract carriers to be SQAS
  • assessed by CEFIC accredited assessor
  • The assessment report must be available in the
  • CEFIC database
  • The SQAS assessment must be kept current
  • DOW conducts SQAS reviews with its contract
    carriers
  • Note DOW review is not a SQAS re-assessment

SQAS Follow Up
  • Scores are not used to rate the carrier
  • Scores are used to identify areas of improvement
    and trend analysis
  • Discuss NO answers and related assessor comments
  • Identify NOs (e.g. M-questions) which need
    prompt follow up
  • Check if SQAS is used as a management tool to
    drive continuous
  • improvement programs
  • Dow SQAS database keeps track of compliance and
    scheduled
  • and/or completed DOW SQAS reviews
