• New Zealand has a good curriculum but are moving
  towards academicised PE.
• The practise of doing is diminishing (in
  pre-service and in schools)
• (Tinning, 2009)
• Proliferation of agencies into school

• University structure
• -three year degree
• -PBRF
• Changes in pre-service courses
• -15 credit courses
• -reduced hours
• -mass lectures

What can we do about it?

• Provide research indicating that doing less PE is
  a problem
• Identify trends in PE practice in schools
• Re-establishing in-service support in PE
