  • IRCPhoNeT was created in Pisa, Italy, in March
    2001 to answer a major demand for integrating
    education, basic and applied research in the area
    of optical networks and technologies. IRCPhoNeT
    is the result of a joint effort of Scuola
    Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa, with its Centre of
    Excellence for Information and Communication
    Engineering (CEIIC), and of CNIT (Consorzio
    Nazionale Interuniversitario per le
    Telecomunicazioni), with its National Laboratory
    for Photonic Networks (LNRF), in collaboration
    with former Marconi Communications (now
    Ericsson).
