Overall Status

• All phone traffic between GVSU WMU over Merit
  since November
• Once DS3 between Gr and Kalamazoo installed
  works fine
• Now ready for other Merit Schools to implement
• QOS not an issue on Merit backbone

Financial Analysis

• 11 of GVSUs Traffic goes to other universities
• If other schools had a TIS, wed save
  13,000/year
• Typical Box costs 19,000

• Each school needs to analyze phone traffic

How It Works

• Box looks like a EIA T-1 to any phone system
• 10 mb eithernet connects to a router on the
  Internet side
• program phone switch to route calls to other
  schools
• Siemens uses H.323 standard
