GROWING AREA OF NEED
  • In 1981, we started school with 27 exceptional
    needs students.
  • In 2005, we started school with 101 exceptional
    needs students.
  • This population now comprises approximately 20
    of the SCJVS student body.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
  • Currently, 75 of the SCJVS Exceptional Needs
    students enjoy learning in an Intervention
    classroom setting
  • Our goal is to find a way to meet the needs of
    the remaining 25 of our IEP students who are not
    currently benefitting from the more
    individualized instruction available in
    Intervention classrooms

  • Focusing on reading decoding and comprehension,
    vocabulary improvement and critical thinking.
  • Also incorporated are daily living skills and
    coping techniques for leading successful lives
    outside the classroom.
