•  So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith
  in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever
  says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast
  into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart,
  but believes that those things he says will be
  done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore
  I say to you, whatever things you ask when you
  pray, believe that you receive them, and you will
  have them. 25 "And whenever you stand praying, if
  you have anything against anyone, forgive him,
  that your Father in heaven may also forgive you
  your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive,
  neither will your Father in heaven forgive your

• So how important is faith?
• A. You cant be saved without faith.
• For by grace you have been saved through faith,
  and that not of yourselves it is the gift of
  God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
  Eph 28-9 (NKJV)

• B. You cant live for God effectively without it.
• Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on
  eternal life, to which you were also called and
  have confessed the good confession in the
  presence of many witnesses. 1 Tim 612 (NKJV)

• C. Need faith to walk with God on a daily basis.
•  For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Cor 57
  (NKJV)

• D. Need faith to please God!
• But without faith it is impossible to please Him,
  for he who comes to God must believe that He is,
  and that He is a rewarded of those who diligently
  seek Him. Heb 116 (NKJV)

• 1. Consider what Bible faith is
• Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
  the evidence of things not seen. Heb 111 (NKJV)

• In some respect, faith is grasping the
  unrealities of hope and watching them materialize
  before our eyes.
• A. There is a difference between head faith and
  heart faith.

• John Wesley once said, the devil had given the
  church a substitute for faith. One that looks and
  sounds so much like faith that few people can
  tell the difference.
• He called this mental assent.

• 2. Consider what faith is not
• A. Bible faith is not denial!
• The bible doesnt say deny the facts.

• The bible does tell us to do something.
•  as it is written, "I have made you the father of
  many nations")--in the presence of the God in
  whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and
  calls into existence the things that do not
  exist. 18 Hoping against hope, he believed that
  he would become "the father of many nations,"
  according to what was said, "So numerous shall
  your descendants be." Romans 417-18 (NRSV)

• Denial doesnt change things faith in God and
  His Word does!
• Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for
  twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things
  from many physicians. She had spent all that she
  had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
  27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind
  Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For
  she said, "If only I may touch His clothes, I
  shall be made well." 29 Immediately the fountain
  of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her
  body that she was healed of the affliction.
  30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that
  power had gone out of Him, turned around in the
  crowd and said, "Who touched My clothes?" 31 But
  His disciples said to Him, "You see the multitude
  thronging You, and You say, Who touched Me?' "
  32 And He looked around to see her who had done
  this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and
  trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came
  and fell down before Him and told Him the whole
  truth. 34 And He said to her, "Daughter, your
  faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be
  healed of your affliction." Mark 525-34 (NKJV)

• She knew she had a problem she also knew who
  could get rid of it , JESUS.
• If I can touch Jesus . I will be whole.

• B. Faith is not neglect.
• Faith does not exclude me from being responsible.
  God may promise to prosper me, but He also
  expects me to practice stewardship. Other wise,
  you could receive a pay raise and still be broke.

• God wants us to follow His plan which is found in
  the Bible.
•  If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat
  the good of the land 20 But if you refuse and
  rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword" For
  the mouth of the Lord has spoken. Isaiah 119-20
  (NKJV)

• God expects us to do our part. He will do His.
• For even when we were with you, we commanded you
  this If anyone will not work, neither shall he
  eat. 11 For we hear that there are some who walk
  among you in a disorderly manner, not working at
  all, but are busybodies 2 Thess 310-11 (NKJV)

• C. Faith does not mean that we fail to plan.
• Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for
  tomorrow will worry about its own things.
  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matt
  634 (NKJV)

•  The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty,
  But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to
  poverty. Prov 215 (NKJV)

•  He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the
  hand of the diligent makes rich. Prov 104 (NKJV)

• D. Faith is not imitation.
• Base your faith on what God says to you not
  someone else.
• By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by
  dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do
  so, were drowned. Heb 1129 (NKJV)

• E. Follow faith not actions.
• Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken
  the word of God to you, whose faith follow,
  considering the outcome of their conduct. Heb
  137 (NKJV)

• 3. How to use faith.
•  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by
  the word of God. Romans 1017 (NKJV)

• A. Every believer has faith.
• For I say, through the grace given to me, to
  everyone who is among you, not to think of
  himself more highly than he ought to think, but
  to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a
  measure of faith. Romans 123 (NKJV)

•  And since we have the same spirit of faith,
  according to what is written, "I believed and
  therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore
  speak, 2 Cor 413 (NKJV)

• B. Feed your spirit the Word of God.
• But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man
  shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
  that proceeds from the mouth of God.' Matt 44

• But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed
  "Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And
  their words to the ends of the world." Romans

• We are bound to thank God always for you,
  brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith
  grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of
  you all abounds toward each other, 2 Thess 13

• Faith can grow.
• If then God so clothes the grass, which today is
  in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the
  oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of
  little faith? Luke 1228 (NKJV)

•  Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a
  centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,
  6 saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home
  paralyzed, dreadfully tormented." 7 And Jesus
  said to him, "I will come and heal him." 8 The
  centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not
  worthy that You should come under my roof. But
  only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.
  9 For I also am a man under authority, having
  soldiers under me. And I say to this one, 'Go,'
  and he goes and to another, 'Come,' and he
  comes and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does
  it." 10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and
  said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to
  you, I have not found such great faith, not even

• Weak faith
•  And not being weak in faith, he did not consider
  his own body, already dead (since he was about a
  hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's
  womb. Romans 419 (NKJV)

• Strong faith
• He staggered not at the promise of God through
  unbelief but was strong in faith, giving glory
  to God Romans 420 (KJV)

• Faith is measurable
• Rich.
• Listen, my beloved brethren Has God not chosen
  the poor of this world to be rich in faith and
  heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those
  who love Him? James 25 (NKJV)

• Full of faith.
• And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And
  they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the
  Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor,
  Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from
  Antioch, Acts 65 (NKJV)

• Perfect faith.
•  Do you see that faith was working together with
  his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
