WOMENS HEALTH ISSUESPart 2
  • THE LATEST ON NUTRITION

3
WHY MULTI-VITAMINS MINERALS ?
  • OUR DIEST HAVE CHANGED!!
  • Throughout 99 our existence, 100 of calories in
our diet came from plants and animals that had
grown in nature without the addition of
    antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides,
insecticides, or herbicides. Today 2/3 of
calories come from foods that are basically
devoid of nutrition processed sugar, fats and
    oils, processed grains, and alcohol.

4
WHY MULTI-VITAMINS AND MINERALS
  • Food processing removes large quantities of
    nutrients.
  • The nutrients most often lost during processing
    include all B-vitamines, vitamines A, C, D, E,
    and many minerals.

5
WHY MULTI-VITAMINS MINERALS
  • Factory farming has changed the way our food is
    grown and distributed.
  • Chemical agriculture relying on fertilizers,
    pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides. Leading
    to soil depletion.
  • Early harvest food products will not have full
    complement of nutrients.
  • World wide shipping

6
WHY MULTI-VIATMINES MINERALS
  • Stress and environmental changes
  • Stress depletes nutrients in the body
  • Poor diets
  • Lifestyle choices
  • Smoking and alcohol
  • Pharmaceuticals can deplete nutrients

7
DRUG-INDUCED NUTRIENT DEPLETIONS
  • HRT / Oral contraceptives metabolism interferes
with absorption of both folic acid and B-6.
Depletion can lead to anxiety, depression,
    irritability, sleep disturbances
  • Cholesterol lowering drugs (lipitor, zocor,
mevacor) block production of CoQ10 causing a
    decrease in energy levels.

8
DRUG-INDUCED NUTRIENT DEPLETIONS
  • Ulcer medications (nexium, prilosec, zantac)
can deplete B-Vitamins, Iron, Zinc, Protein.
  • Antibiotics Kills the friendly bacteria that
    produce B-Vitamins and Vitamin K.
  • Anti-Inflammatory drugs Aspirin, Ibuprofen,
many others deplete folic acid, Vitamin C, and
    Iron.

9
FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS
  • Hypothyroidism Estrogen Dominance can lead to
low thyroid function. Stress can do this too.
  • Long term nutritional deficiencies
  • Liver dysfunction Inability to breakdown and
detoxify estrogen and other toxins will increase
    symptoms.
  • Environmental xenoestrogen exposure.

10
FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS
  • Stress Negatively affects the adrenals and
decreases the amount of estrogen and progesterone
    produced.
  • Hypoglycemia increases menopausal symptoms like
anxiety, mood swings, and decreases overall
    energy level.
  • Poor diet and lack of exercise.

11
ADRENAL FUNCTIONYou may need adrenal support if-
  • When you awaken you feel groggy and have to drag
    yourself out of bed.
  • You can not get going without the first cup or
    two of caffeinated beverage.

Nutritional Management of Perimenopause
Menopause
  • Magnesium natural relaxant, helps with sleep

Nutritional Management of Perimenopause
Menopause
  • Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) helps estrogen
metabolism go down favorable pathways to form
good estrogens and decreases symptoms of
estrogen dominance, good for both men and women

Hormones Hormone Precursors for Perimenopause
