Purpose

• To analyse clinical results of 350 cases
• Implantation of Akreos AO microincision
• Incision size 1.7mm

METHODS

• Prospective study on 350 eyes
• Single centre, one surgeon
• Biaxial surgical technique two 1.3mm incisions
  (main one then enlarged to 1.7mm for Akreos MI60
  injection).
• Stellaris Phacoemulsification system

RESULTS

• - Good stability over time with excellent post-op
  BCVA UCVA
• - Low level of induced astigmatism no change
• in axis
• - Low endothelial cell loss
• - 15 capsulotomy (PCO) since beginning of study
  (sept 06)
• - 2 Rhexis phimosis
• - 8 Fibrosis of posterior capsular bag surface
  without loss of visual acuity

CONCLUSION
After two years working with Akreos AO
micro-incision MI60, clinical outcomes are
excellent and post-operative complications rate
is very low. We succeed in our challenge to
implant an aspheric microincision IOL through
1.7mm without induced astigmatism, in a
reproducible and safe manner.
