  • Doctors Surgery
  • Outline
  • A doctors surgery consists of five doctors a
receptionist and a manager. They need an
information system to help them to run the
facility. The information system should enable
appointments to be made and a track to be kept of
diagnosis and treatment given to each patient.
You have been asked by the manager of the surgery
to produce a proposal for a new computerised
    system.
  • Due in Week 12 (Wednesday 17th December 2003)

3
The current system
  • The surgery registers patients, makes
appointments, and records the important details
of the appointments. These include the symptoms,
    diagnosis and treatment (including prescriptions)
    .
  • Patients register with one doctor. Each doctor
has a maximum number of patients registered to
    them.
  • Patients may make appointments. These may be
    standard, emergency or home visits.
  • When a patient is seen the doctor is able to see
a medical history of the patient and then to
record relevant details of the appointment.
