Title: THE LEGACY WE LEAVE

1
THE LEGACY WE LEAVE
2
I. A Legacy of Godliness
  • Ephesians 518-21 Do not get drunk on wine,
which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled
with the Spirit. Speak to one another with
psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make
music in your heart to the Lord always giving
thanks to God the Father for everything, in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one
another out of reverence for Christ.

3
1. Be Filled With The Spirit
  • Ephesians 518 Do not get drunk on wine, which
leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the
    Spirit.
  • Galatians 516-17 So I say, live by the Spirit,
and you will not gratify the desires of the
sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what
is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is
contrary to the sinful nature. They are in
conflict with each other, so that you do not do
    what you want.

2. We Should Be Singing
  • Ephesians 519 Speak to one another with
psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make
music in your heart to the Lord.

5
3. We Should Be Satisfied
  • Ephesians 520 Always giving thanks to God the
Father for everything, in the name of our Lord
    Jesus Christ.
  • Unthankful dads are bad advertisements for the
    Lord.

6
4. We Should Be Submissive
  • Ephesians 521 Submit to one another out of
    reverence for Christ.

7
II. A Legacy of Love
  • Lead Your Wife.
  • Ephesians 522-23 Wives, submit to your
husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the
head of the wife as Christ is the head of the
church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

8
A. Equality
  • Galatians 326-28 You are all sons of God
through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who
were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves
with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek,
slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all
    one in Christ Jesus.
  • The ground is level at the cross!

9
B. Authority
  • I Corinthians 113 Now I want you to realize
that the head of every man is Christ, and the
head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ
    is God.
  • John 638 For I have come down from heaven not
to do my will but to do the will of him who sent
    me.

10
C. Responsibility
  • I Timothy 34 He must manage his own family well
and see that his children obey him with proper
    respect.
  • Intimacy.

11
2. Love Your Wife
  • Ephesians 525 Husbands, love your wives, just
as Christ loved the church and gave himself up
    for her.
  • An unconditional Love.
  • An Unreserved Love.
  • Ephesians 525b Just as Christ loved the church
and gave himself up for her.

12
John 1513 Greater love has no one than this,
that He lay down His life for His friends.
13
C. An Undefiled Love
  • Ephesians 526-27 And gave Himself up for her
to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing
with water through the word, and to present her
to himself as a radiant church, without stain or
wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and
    blameless.

14
D. An Understanding Love
  • Ephesians 528-29 In the same way, husbands
ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He
who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no
one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and
cares for it, just as Christ does the church-for
we are members of his body.
