WAKE RADIATOR STATUS
  • First issue for INNER SKINS and OUTER SKINS
    drawings delivered on 20.04.07.
  • To be implemented
  • I/F holes for white paint protection panels on
    outer skins
  • I/F holes to cab lhp on outer skins

42
Changes to the FM design (1)
  • After STA integration
  • MID brackets length has been reduced by 2mm

43
Changes to the FM design (2)
  • PANEL cut-out reduced by 3mm
  • for MID-BRACKETS (both radiators)
  • CAB mounting bolts on lower side of box ( only
    WAKE)

44
CAB 2 phase model
  • Gongming Xin (SDU)
  • Stefano Zinna (UniBG)

45
CAB LHP 2 Phases Modeling
  • Cases needed to run
  • Steady State of CAB in Worst Hot Case (105W)
  • Steady State of CAB in Worst Cold Case (35.5W)
  • CAB Ramp-UP process
  • In different CAB/LHP mode
  • CAB
  • Ramp Up nominal mode (6 CCS CS)
  • Ramp Up module failure mode (5 CCS CS)
  • LHP
  • Nominal mode (2 LHPs working)
  • Failure mode (1 LHP failure)

46
  • Modeling start with
  • SINDA/FLUINT
  • parameters based on the preliminary design of CAB
    LHP
  • One LHP working (Failure mode of LHP) in the
    beginning.

47
Characteristics of 2 phases model (1 LHP)
  • Working fluid--Ammonia
  • 4446 thermal nodes, 42 fluid lumps
  • Conductance to radiator 800(W/m2/K)Area
  • Conductance from Eva-Saddle to CAB Baseplate
    1000(W/m2/K)Area
  • Evaporator model shown as below

48
Status
  • The modeling has been completed with
  • Parametric analysis done for some critical
parameters (e.g. power, heat transfer coefficient
in wick-Uw, Back conductance-Uback, and the ratio
    of Uw/Uback)
  • Model running for one LHP in both worst hot and
    worst cold cases for CAB
  • Results achieved for both cases, but need to be
    reviewed.
  • Ramp-Up process (LHP failure mode) ready to run
    once the model is validated.

49
Heaters and thermostats procurement
  • M. Molina

50
Thermostats (19 for the EHV, 5 for the Ecrate
and 10 for the RHV)
  • Two options
  • US source 18 weeks lead time export license
  • E.G. 12 weeks for ECAL thermostats
  • E.G. 16 weeks for ECAL thermostats intermediate
consignee change (to allow installation in
    Annecy)
  • European source 26 weeks, no license required

51
Thermostats
  • Procurement started, on the basis of verbal
agreement with INFN PI (F. Cervelli and M.
    Incagli) on 26th March 2007
  • J. Berdugo statement at JSC we will follow
Franco CERVELLI, who else? taken literally
  • RHV thermostats ordered as well
  • Paperwork (proposals from CGS to INFN and
CIEMAT) still ongoing as per today (NO PROBLEM,
provided we get the purchase order)
  • 5 thermostats (on stock) for E-crates expected
within 4 weeks (End of May 2007)
  • All the others 29 Thermostats expected for
    September 24th

52
Heaters
  • 11 weeks lead time
  • Expected delivery June 15th, 2007
