Question
This years Year 11 had 359 students. In natural
ability rank from 1-359, which do you think was
the lowest ranked student who still managed to
get 5 A-C?
15
Answer
The 356th student ranked by natural ability
achieved 5 A-C. In case you think this is a
fluke result, so did the student ranked 354. That
is a gold medal performance! Our number 1 ranked
student got 1 A, 3As, 3Bs and 4 Cs. Who do you
admire the most? The highest ranked student not
achieving 5 A-C was number 157. She got 3 A-C

Anonymous student says
  • Im not going to do any revision for the trial
    exams
  • because that will help me to decide what I need
to revise for the real exams. Itll tell me what
I know and what I dont know.

21
How important are the trial exams?
  • The week helps prepare students for the pressures
    of the real GCSE exams.
  • They provide an opportunity to practise revision
    skills.
  • They provide an opportunity to practise exam
    skills under exam conditions.
  • They will help students and teachers to assess
    progress.

22
So how do you as parents support your children
through revision now and later?
  • We have recently done some work in school on
    cutting edge research in Neuroscience
specifically the discovery of and research into
mirror neurons, the neurons which suggest that
all human behaviour is based on imitation, that
we are all hard-wired to follow the example of
    others.
