Elderly Services Mission Statement
  • Our mission is to assist our elders to maintain
    an independent, healthy, productive and quality
    lifestyle through love, caring and respect by the
    services we provide.

ELDERS RAISED GARDEN

COORDINATION OF SERVICES With Bay Area Agency on
Aging (BAAA)
  • Chronic Disease Self Management collaborate
    with Milwaukee County and the State of Wisconsin
    to train leaders for classes.
  • Stepping On and Matter of Balance Falls
    Prevention Program. Classes set up and are paid
    for with a grant that BAAA has received from AOA.
  • Faith in Action (FIA) Volunteer Program. We have
    close to 40 volunteers and eleven congregations
    participating. Every November we have a Prayer
    Luncheon to recognize the volunteers and the
    clergy for their continued support and team work
    in serving our community.

TRADITIONAL MEALS and ACTIVITIES Special Focus
  • Traditional foods, such as Corn Soup and Wild
    Rice, are served every other month at the meal
    site.
  • Nutrition Advisory Board meets on a monthly
    basis. Included on the Board are the
    Nutritionist, Community Health Nurse, non-tribal
    meal site participants, staff, and elders.

UTILIZE VOLUNTEERS
  • We have a (VISTA)
  • Volunteer In-Service
  • To America worker.
  • VISTAs are students
  • with a Bachelor degree
  • who come from the
  • National Society for
  • American Indian Elderly and stay with us for a
    year to three years.
  • VISTAs do research, write grants and develop our
    volunteer program.
  • Most current project is coordinating the receipt
    of a grant for our Moccasin Making program for
    adults and children together.

INNOVATIONS INCREASE REVENUE
  • USDA-Community Foods Projects Children and
    Elders developing gardens to meet the food needs
    of low income people.
  • Office of Violence Against Women. Partner with
    various programs to end violence against, and
    abuse of Women Later in Life Program
  • Tribal Aging Directors Association in Wisconsin.
    Working to develop an ADRC (Aging Disability
    Resource Center) and Tribal AAA (Area Agency on
    Aging).
  • AARP Driver Safety classes.
  • Offered to our community as
  • one of our Preventive
  • Maintenance programs.

Enhance Staff Skill Levels
  • Continuous improvement on effective communication
  • How am I doing Survey done on a yearly basis
    will assist in knowing were we need to improve in
    our services
  • Human Resources presents classes on a regular
    basis regarding topics such as Tribal Code of
    Ethics, Customer relations, Team Work and
    Effective Listening.

New Case Management Techniques
  • We collaborate with our Community Health
    Department, Nursing Home and Elderly Services to
    achieve effective case management.
  • Currently we are looking for an effective online
    data systems and automated health records

Seniors Help Preserve Tribal language, culture,
arts and crafts
  • Culture Fest at Oneida Museum
  • Genealogy at Oneida Language Heritage House
  • Oneida Language Culture classes
  • 4 Nations Picnic
  • Visits to and from other Tribes
  • Specific culture days such as Western, Hawaiin
    or Native days.
