Small Business Innovation Research
  • INNOVATION
  • VirtualSat Pro?, a satellite flight simulation
tool hosted on a desktop PC for flight software
development and test, spacecraft IT and flight
    ops training.
  • Selectable ACS components and spacecraft
    dynamics.
  • Executes flight software and provides a mechanism
for multiple satellite interactions on a single
    PC platform.
  • ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Reduces the cost and schedule risk for flight
software development, testing and training with
spacecraft flight software. A PC platform with
COTS components provides a cost effective system
for various subsystems throughout all life
    cycles.
  • Created modular spacecraft models (vModels),
constructed by specifying collection of model
    components.
  • Developed library of common interfacing sensors,
    actuators, etc.
  • Created open architecture, so developers can
develop new models instead of using standard
    library.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with 3rd party
COTS systems (STK, SatTrack, etc.) and several
ground systems (e.g., ITOS and ASSIST).
  • COMMERCIALIZATION
  • Incorporated in flatsat development environment
    of SMEX-Lite, joint commercialization initiative
    with Swales Aerospace.
  • Corporate counsel retained for conduct of ITAR,
    TAA, and export licenses.
  • GOVERNMENT/SCIENCE APPLICATIONS
  • Tool has been used successfully in numerous
    projects
  • GSFC SWIFT BAT instrument flight software
    development verification. Three VirtualSat
systems purchased, 100K, for SWIFT BAT support.
  • EO-1 software maintenance.
  • GSFC Formation Flying Testbed.
  • Naval Research Laboratory NEMO software
    development.
  • GSFC MARSSAT algorithm development.
