Definitions

• Reciprocating an alternating forward and reverse
  motion
• Saw any tool that is hand or power driven
  composed of a sharp metal blade used to cut
  materials
• Motor a device that converts any form of energy
  into mechanical energy
• No Load Speed range of possible speeds of the
  blade measured in strokes per minute.
• Blade Stroke distance covered by the blade per
  half-cycle
• Shank Capacity the maximum blade height that can
  be fitted into the unit.

Main Types of Blades Available

• 3 to 12 in length, thickness and heights varies
• TPI (teeth per inch) ranges from 3 to 18- more
  teeth allow a smoother cut but slower
• Teeth may vary in shape- granular, wavy,
  triangular

1. Bi-Metal composed of two types of metals, high
   durability (some strong ones are composed of 8
   cobalt)
2. Carbide Steel Coated - used on extremely hard or
   abrasive materials such as cement and tile
3. Tungsten Carbide Tipped (Granulated with carbide)
   fast cutting for wood, plastic, fiberboard
