  • Project Purpose
  • The 4th year New Media Festival was established
in 2006. It provides students with the
opportunity to present their thesis projects to
the Ryerson community, family and friends, and
    the general public.
  • The central objectives of this annual end-of-term
project are to provide graduating students with a
    professional-level context for the presentation
of their technological and artistic skills, and
to increase awareness of the range of new media
practices being learned and developed at Ryerson
    University.

  • Past Achievements
  • With great thanks to PFACS, last year the 4th
Year New Media Curatorial group was able to
execute a professional level show that was
covered by high profile media sources. Public
recognition for the works presented in the
Festival have, in past years, come through campus
and mainstream print media like The EyeOpener,
Ryersonian, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, and Now
    Magazine.
  • They were also able to create some amazing
graphics and promotional items for the festival

  • Inspirations

  • Venue
  • This year we plan to further develop the festival
    by taking it off campus.
  • This will allow us to
  • - increase public profile broaden our
    audience,
  • - expand professional networking opportunities,
  • - further develop educational outreach,
  • - strengthen Ryersons reputation in the arts
    sector.

11
  • Promotional Aim
  • Our goal this year is to increase our broadcast
    and online media profile by
  • Tapping into the promotional pool that the city
has to offer such as screens
  • located all around the city.
  • Wild on Walls (located at Yonge and Adelaide),
  • IMA Outdoor (located mainly around Union
    Station),
  • Toronto Life and Clear Channel (located at Young
    and Dundas)
  • Media we are looking to be featured by

12
  • Budget
  • With the help of PFACS we will be able to make
this years show bigger, better, and more
professional than any other year. The funding
will mainly be used to advertise via print and
screen media, enhance exhibition design, rent and
possibly renovate a venue, and create educational
    outreach programs for high schools.
  • In support of our upcoming exhibition, we have
held 2 fundraisers since September and are
planning a third that will take place in
    January.
