Title: VISUAL REALITY

1
VISUAL REALITY
  • Massive Proposal
  • Face Area Increase of 4,217 Sq.Ft.
  • Industrial building increase by 12,480 square
    footage

2
Scenic Areas Should Be Protected
  • Because of its especially important visual
    qualities, development through the Central
Mountains area should be designed to complement
the landscape, not degrade it. Protection of
visually sensitive areas is a priority because
they are critical to the composition and unique
    character of the foothills landscape.
  • Central Mountains Community Plan at 17.

3
Scenic Areas Should Be Protected
  • Lookout Mountain and Mount Morrison are
recognized as part of the Lariat Loop Mountain
Gateway Colorado Heritage Area. As such these
    sites must be protected.
  • Letter from Colorado Legislators Ex. 2

TOWER FACE AREA INCREASE OF 4,217 Sq.Ft.!
  • Face Area of tower allowed antennas
  • Proposed towers 17,817 sq.ft
  • Main tower 17,607
  • Auxiliary tower 210
  • Nonconforming towers removed 13,600 sq.ft.
  • LCG calculations submitted to Jeffco (5/14/03)
    used inconsistent calculation methods
  • Tower width antenna width of removed towers
  • Tower width only of proposed towers

Width of Proposed Tower with Antennas Almost 30
feet
  • 10 ft. wide tower The width of any face of the
Tower shall not exceed 10 ft measured
horizontally between the centers of its outside
    vertical supports. Structure Limitations 5

  • 10ft antennas on each side Antennas mounted to
the tower may not extend more than 10 ft.

Permanent Increased Industrial Mass on Mountain
Backdrop
  • Tower Face Area
  • 4,217 sq. ft gain
  • Now 13,600 sq.ft
  • Proposed 17,817 sq.ft.
  • Buildings 12,480 gain
  • Now 8,520 sq.ft.
  • Proposed 21,000 sq. ft

9
The Proposed Buildings Are Larger Than Necessary
for These Towers
  • Proposal assumes a need of 2,500 sq. ft. for each
    of 8 transmitters
  • Review of space requirements for local high-power
UHF transmitters shows that 1,000 sq. ft. per
    station is sufficient
  • Channel 50 (2.5 MW) currently in a 900 square
    foot building.
  • Channel 15 (1 MW) DTV to be installed in 900
square feet now available on Mt. Morrison.
  • Channel 59 (5 MW) currently shares 2000 square
feet with two other TV stations and numerous low
    power tenants
  • Even if 2,500 sq. ft were needed, this would only
    be a temporary need
