EBR Pilots - Overview
6
Tourism pilot in summary
  • A tool to lift basic accommodation listings from
the EBR site and generate a smart site of
    contextualising and support information, rather
like the type of information a qualified tourist
    information officer would give.
  • Method currently used in www.londontown.com

7
What it could include?
  • Picture and description of the accommodation
  • List of amenities
  • Listing of key resources in the area
  • What's on guide
  • An EBR map reference.
  • Link to email, as user sometimes wants to make
generalised enquires before making a firm
    booking.
  • Link to Skype (IP based free telephony) Real time
    messaging service
  • Tracking the specific accommodation link within
Gulliver or Tidynet to facilitate payment.

8
Where would the Information comes from
  • EBR databases
  • Official Tourist sites
  • Accommodation provider
  • If this component is missing, it will not detract
    from the system

9
Benefits
  • Adds to the quality of support information for
    the user and accommodation provider.
  • Supports the work of the tourist information
    officers.
  • Is complimentary to the EBR site.
  • Uses databases and content already on the site's
    databases to gather its information.
  • Not competitive with official sites and their
    payment methods.
  • Will not cause extra workloads or resource
requirements for the East Border Regions.
