The Lunch Period
  • Six serving lines in the cafeteria
  • One serving line at the Concession Stand
  • One Grab N Go serving line at the Totem Pole

Cafeteria lines
  • Two existing lines will offer full hot lunch
    service
  • Four new lines/kiosks and Concession Stand line
    will offer a la carte menu items
  • Totem Pole line will offer pre-packaged snacks,
    drinks, cookies, etc.

Dining Options
  • Cafeteria 80 seats
  • Auxiliary Gym 100 seats
  • Picnic Area 100 seats
  • 30 classrooms with 25 seats per classroom

Dining, continued
  • Students will be able to choose who and where to
    dinemost of the time.
  • Students in Freshman Transition, Tutorial and
    Study Halls will eat in that particular
    classroom.
  • Students must remain in the same place throughout
    the 4.5 week period.

Tutorial
  • Students enrolled in EOC courses are eligible to
    participate in Tutorial English I, Algebra I,
    Algebra II, Geometry, Physical Science, Biology,
    Chemistry, Physics, Civics, and US History

Tutorial Eligibility
  • Students whose grade falls below 80 in one of the
    EOC courses will be placed in a subject specific
    Tutorial for a 4.5 week period of time.
  • At the beginning of the semester, students may be
    placed in a subject specific Tutorial based on
    historical data.
  • Students who may have grades below 80 in more
    than one EOC course will be staffed to determine
    the area of greatest need.

Tutorial, continued
  • Tutorials are limited to 10-15 students.
  • Tutorials will last for 30 minutes of the 60
    minute lunch period.
  • Therefore, students who need the most help will
    receive an additional 2-2.5 hours per week with a
    certified teacher.

  • Academic Study Hall
  • Instructional Recovery Study Hall
  • Self-nominated Study Hall
  • Media Center, PLATO, Academic Computer Labs

Academic Study Hall
  • Students whose grade falls below 80 in any
    non-EOC course will be placed in non-subject
    specific study halls for a 4.5 week period.
  • A no talking rule will be strictly enforced.
  • Students will work for 30 minutes and then have
    lunch.
  • Academic Study Halls will house approximately 30
    students.

Instructional Recovery Study Hall
  • Students who accrue excessive absences, tardies,
    and/or early dismissals will be able to recover
    time lost in class.
  • Students who are chronically unprepared for
    class incomplete homework, lack of materials or
    supplies will attend the IR Study Hall.
  • Students who behave inappropriately during the
    one hour lunch period will be assigned to the IR
    Study Hall.
  • At this time, the length of time spent in IR
    Study Hall has not been determined.

Self Nominated Study Hall
  • Students may opt to self-nominate for Study Hall
    depending on their individual need.
  • They may study with their lunch buddies or go to
    the Media Center or one of the Academic Computer
    Labs. EXAMPLE Research Paper
  • The length of time for Self-nominated Study Hall
    is to be determined by the individual student.

Media Center, PLATO, and Academic Computer Labs
  • The Media Center and Academic Computer Labs will
    be staffed and open to students during the hour
    long lunch period.
  • Students enrolled in Credit Recovery through
    PLATO will be able to use this time as well.

Freshman Transition
  • All ninth graders will participate in Freshman
    Transition.
  • They will be housed in their Tribal Councils for
    transition and lunch.
  • The program will focus on study skills, test
    taking strategies, habits of successful
    teenagers, the importance of high school
    graduation and post secondary schooling, etc. and
    will be taught by seniors and facilitated by
    ninth grade TC leaders.

Mini-Sessions
  • Interest based mini-sessions will be offered
    throughout the semester during the lunch hour and
    will be available to students not involved in
    Tutorial, Study Hall or Freshman Transition.
  • Possible mini-sessions Navigating the Freshman
    Year in College, Self-Defense, Financial Savvy,
    Yoga, Cake Decorating, etc.

Seniors as Leaders
  • Seniors may apply to assist in Tutorial, Study
    Hall or Freshman Transition.
  • Tutorial 3.5 GPA or higher in specific subject
  • Study Hall 3.0 or higher overall GPA
  • Freshman Transition Leadership skills-no GPA
    requirement 4-5 Seniors are needed for every
    ninth grade homeroom and will be responsible for
    teaching one lesson per week.
  • There will be an application process for all
    three opportunities.

Senior Perks for participating as a Leader in
Tutorial, Study Hall and Freshman Transition
  • With parent permission, seniors be able to eat
    lunch at an area restaurant on Fridays.
  • An activity bus will make a circuit allowing
    students to make a choice.
  • Seniors will be back at school within the one
    hour time frame.

  • Recognition at the Senior Awards Assembly and
    Graduation
  • Opportunity to submit on college applications
    and/or scholarship applications
  • Othersto be determined

  • Increased self-esteem as students become more
    successful in school

  • Increased promotion rate
  • Increased attendance rate from 95 to 98
  • Increased proficiency on EOC, VoCATS, SAT, 10th
    Grade Writing Test, Computer Proficiency Tests
  • Meet all AYP targets
  • Increased opportunities for all students
    including our seniors
