Export vs. Import
  • SpaceQry has always had the philosophy of
exporting data as opposed to importing data.
Historically this is because of having the SRS
database exclusively on a CD-ROM in the days when
hard-disc space was limited. Because of this,
the SRS was almost always used directly from the
    read-only CD.

8
Export vs. Import (2)
  • Today, and in fact for the last several years,
  • disc space is no longer an issue, so it is now
relatively easy to maintain an up-to-date SRS
database on your hard disc (or even on your iPod)
which pretty well matches the BR's database.

9
Export vs. Import (3)
  • Because of SpaceQry's historical "export"
philosophy, the method for updating your local
SRS is to export the new data from the IFIC
database into the SRS database. To do this you
    need only

10
Updating Your SRS
  • 1) copy the SRS from the DVD onto your hard
    drive
  • 2) remove the read-only attribute of the SRS.mdb
    file
  • 3) every 2 weeks, download the new IFIC database
from the web (or take it from the IFIC CD-ROM)
  • 4) open the IFIC database with SpaceQry
  • 5) select the FileExportCurrent Query menu
    option
  • 6) answer "yes" to the question box asking about
only exporting status 50 and 51
  • 7) select your local SRS as the "target" database
