• One time two men were spearing fish between
  the big rock off Onion Bay Point and the island
  from a canoe. One was an old man and one was a
  young man. They saw a big fish coming close to
  them.

• The old man said not to spear this fish but
  the young man would not listen and he speared the
  fish.

• The big fish was very strong and it pulled the
  canoe and the two men along past Barber Island.
  At Onion Bay they stopped and tried to pull the
  fish in. The wives of the men saw what happened
  and walked around to Pompey Bay and called out to
  their husbands to let the fish go.

• But again the young man would not listen. Soon
  the big fish overturned the canoe and today you
  can see where the two men and the canoe were
  turned into the reef of Onion Bay.
