CPF Advanced
  • Recent improved version of the well known CPF
    filters
  • Features improved flute definition to improve the
    visual appearance
  • The same handling benefits as the monoacetate
filter so there is no need to adapt
    processes/equipment
  • Can be used with flavours
  • Offers a visually distinctive filter at a cost
    effective price
  • Same level of superior performance as standard
CPFTM, but with the added benefits of brand
    identity and possible anti-counterfeiting
    capability

Combined Performance Filter CPF Advanced
  • Main benefit is the higher tar and nicotine
retention when compared to monoaceate at the same
    filter PD
  • Cellulose acetate fibre with embossed inner wrap
  • Coloured inner wrap can increase the visual
    identity
  • Configured with flutes to mouth (FTM) or flutes
    to tobacco (FTT)
  • Suitable at all tar levels from full flavor to
    ultra low
  • Design flexibility - combined as a dual, have
flavor added or possible other options

Active Patch Filter
  • Mono-process carbon filter.
  • Patch of activated carbon is printed onto the
    inner surface of the plugwrap.
  • Patch position is flexible, and Ventilation can
be achieved through either single patch, or split
    patch configuration.
  • Clean run filter concept - no machine
    contamination.
  • Charcoal loading up to 3mg per linear patch mm.
  • Total loading controlled by the length of the
    patch.
  • Similar VP and SV performance to other charcoal
filters with same charcoal loading, but with less
    "charcoal taste".

Special Carbons
  • The performance of filters can also be enhanced
by the use of higher activity carbons
  • A recent version of these is a carbon that
combines higher activity than standard coconut
shell carbon with an impregnant that selectively
    removes Hydrogen Cyanide
  • Such carbon is suitable for with all filter
    processes including the active patch.
  • The removal of Hydrogen Cyanide is achieved more
by a chemical action than physical adsorption
  • The chemical removal of the Hydrogen Cyanide
means that there is no change in reduction of
    Hydrogen Cyanide as cigarettes age

Conclusions
  • The global trend for yield reduction of all
    compounds is expected to continue
  • This can be achieved with monofilters
  • Future developments are likely to include more
    effective monofilters and selective filtration
    agents
