What is it?
  • Increase the number of patients involved in
    clinical trials and well designed primary care
    studies
  • To enable practices to get established systems in
    order to engage in NIHR studies
  • Initial funded time to meet with PCRN staff in
    order to get Research embedded into your Practice
  • Practice time to get your Practice staff engaged
  • Funding in order to attend today the Good
    Clinical Practice session 21 May 2009

Level 1 - 1,500
  • Consider studies on a regular basis
  • Hold 12 meetings a year with the local network
    facilitator
  • Then
  • recruiting patients either by GPs or Nurses in
    routine consultations or in dedicated clinics
  • Host up to 3 NIHR studies per year
  • To consider at least one potential commercial
    study, if requested to do so

Level 2 - 4,000
  • As level 1 plus
  • 4 or more NIHR studies per year
  • Undertake feasibility assessments i.e. database
    searches
  • Maintain validated registers in the disease areas
    of the Topic Clinical Research Networks
  • Lead clinician to have Good Clinical Practice
    (GCP) training in the last year (or by end of
    first year)

  • A visit from a Research Officer can provide
    information on
  • what the network offers and how the network can
    support
  • you in taking part in research.
  • A visit is an opportunity
  • For us to find out how you would like to be
    involved in primary care research and the support
    you need.
  • For you to find out more about portfolio studies
    and taking part in particular studies.
  • For us to capture practice profile/staff and
    characteristics so we can then offer you studies
    most suited to your interests and practice.
  • For you to learn about related accreditation
    schemes (RCGP research ready scheme) and training
    ( GCP training).

Conclusion

    expertise in General Practice to engage in
    research
  • Assist practices to be research active!
