  • State Legislatures
  • For the first time since 1994, the Democrats took
    control of the majority of the nations
    legislatures.
  • Democrats control both legislative chambers in 23
    states, Republicans in 15. In 11 states, control
    is split.
  • Nebraskas unicameral legislature is nonpartisan.
  • Going into the election, Democrats controlled
    both chambers in 19 states, Republicans in 20 and
    10 states were split.
  • Democrats went from 47 chambers to 54 the GOP
    went from 49 to 42.

  • Gov. Ted Kulongoski said We want to ensure that
    all of our citizens health records are available
    to them and their healthcare provider anytime,
    anywhere they are needed, and that those health
    records are confidential and secure at all
    times.         Oregons Health Information
    Security and Privacy Collaborative
  • HISPC is a national project to assess privacy and
    security laws and business practices with regard
    to the exchange of electronic health information.
    Oregon is one of 34 states participating in this
    collaborative with National Governors Association
  • Examining privacy and security policies and
    business practices regarding electronic health
    information exchange and the current legal
    requirements in the state that may be driving
    those policies
  • Identifying challenges that privacy and security
    policies might pose to interoperable health
    information exchange

    personal health information
