The consortium
  • Both Nottingham HEIs (University of Nottingham
    and Nottingham Trent University)
  • City of Nottingham Passport (LEA) KS3-4 and
    Nottingham FE Colleges
  • Local employers, e.g. Rolls-Royce, Toyota, EMDA

Why we got the money
  • Wide range of learners, including vocational

Managing change
  • Through involvement of CoNP we have support of
    all FE colleges in the region
  • Sharing the HE vision/experience across platforms
  • Building a regional identity Nottingham as a
    national test bed/showcase

Joining up systems
  • Building on previous experience using UK LeaP (BS
    8788) standard
  • Technical consortium have agreed minimum data set
    (identity data personal statement)
  • Demonstrated lifelong learner journey by passing
    one individuals data across 5 transitions KS4,
    FE, HE and employment

Shibboleth
  • Federated authentication system expected to
    replace Athens
  • Deployed on Microsoft platform (most support
    documentation is Unix-based)
  • Dummy service now running between two servers at
    NTU
  • Trialling use for authentication of PDP data

  • Informing Reference Model project work suggests
    possibilities for wider range of projects to do
    the same
  • Community of developers/pedagogic staff across
    sectors
  • Building capacity sharing resources
  • Recommendations about standards

  • Bid to JISC for extension funding based on
  • Supporting sustainability of systems within the
    region
  • Sustaining collaboration and discussion within
    the technical group
  • Involving a wider range of partners Connexions
    and more local employers, including SMEs
  • Extension of interoperability pilots to use web
    services
  • Dissemination to the wider community the RIPPLL
    effect!
