Enhanced Avionics System
  • The EASy key design objectives are focussed on
    the human factors
  • Intuitive Man-machine Interface,
  • Improved the situational awareness,
  • Reduced workload,
  • Keeping the pilot in the loop,
  • Better crew coordination.

Proof Of Concept 1/3
  • Goals
  • Minimize the certification risks,
  • Assure the pilot acceptance.
  • A POC plan was proposed and discussed with the
    Authorities
  • Identification of the POC candidates,
  • Defined the adequate means to evaluate each new
    features (simulator or aircraft testbed),
  • Evaluation tests program.

Proof Of Concept 2/3
  • History
  • Evaluators
  • 14 pilots ( 3 FAA, 5 JAA, 2 DA, 2 DFJ, 2 HI )
  • 3 Engineers ( 1 FAA, 3 JAA )
  • 5 stages spread on 6 months allowing to iterate
    in the design

13
Proof Of Concept 3/3
  • Assessment Process
  • Red book provides
  • Goals of the evaluation,
  • overview of the current definition and the
    associated limitations,
  • Scenarii.
  • Refresher session on simulator 2/3 hours (first
    day)
  • Briefing
  • Evaluation on SIMULATOR on CITIII 2/3 hours
    (second day)
  • Debriefing
  • Questionnaire.

Conclusions
  • A Proof Of Concept Phase allows to
  • Address, in advance, comments in the final
    design,
  • Minimize risk in the certification,
  • Help the Certification Authorities to
understand the new design philosophy and
concepts, and then to accept the certification
    basis.
  • Increase the system confident in operational
    needs,
  • Check that the design match with the initial
    objectives in operational conditions.
