• Ethnic minorities are NOT a homogenous group
• There are big differences between the Hispanics
• The middle class Blacks HAVE made progress

• Ghetto Blacks are very different to suburban
  Blacks
• Cubans living middle class lifestyles while
  Hispanics remain in barrios.

• Native Americans suffer most psychological
  marginalisation (several reasons for this)
• APIs are ethnic minorities BUT have different
  status (Koreans fare very well in education)

• Also important to remember that there is
  resentment amongst different ethnic minorities,
  for example during the LA riots many Blacks
  burned and looted the shops of APIs mainly
  Koreans, this was partly to do with deep rooted
  problems.

• The Blacks face more racism than other groups and
  in many ways this keeps them down and the cycle
  of poverty is perpetuated.
• The American Dream is not everyones reality
  even in 2005.
