Early Life
  • Born in Plympton, Massachusetts, on December 17,
    1760
  • Deborah enjoyed hanging out with the boys.
  • Her dad died when she was 10 years old

Adult Life
  • Deborah was a teacher. She taught girls how to
    sew, read, and much more.

Importance During Revolution
  • In 1782, she disguised as a man. She took the
    name Robert Shurtliff.
  • Her secret was out when she had a high fever.
  • She was kicked out of the war.

Later Years
  • Deborah wrote a book about her experiences in the
    war.
  • She married Benjamin Gannett. She had 3 children.
  • In 1827, she died
