Butterflies.
  • Butterflies and Moths are the third-largest
    insect group.
  • Butterflies have a very interesting life-cycle.
  • They originate from being a Caterpillar to a
    beautiful Butterfly.

The Earthworm
  • The Earthworm has a head and a tail end, but most
    of its body is made up of segments which are
    very similar to each other.
  • The colour of Earthworms is usually a pale red to
    a dull pink.They live in Dark damp places. They
    cannot live in dry soil or sand.They have 5
    hearts. And their main predator is the bird

LadyBird
  • The Adult Ladybird eats aphids or scaled insects.
  • Ladybirds that most of us find are red and black.
    The Ladybird is less than 1.2 cm (1/2 inch)

Snails
  • Snails are a very important animal/minibeast/
    molluscs of the food web.
  • They carry their home on their back. They have 1
    foot and have antennae and feelers.

Woodlouse.
  • The Woodlouse is found in the garden, under
    stones or in other damp dark places.
  • They feed on decaying animals or vegetables. They
    have seven legs and when they are disturbed they
    roll themselves into a ball.

Dragonfly
  • Approximately 4870 species of Dragonfly are
    known, and are found in most temperate regions of
    the world.Temperate zone species have a wingspans
    of 5-8 cm long, but tropical species have a
    wingspan of 20cm. The largest Dragonfly, that
    lived 250 million years ago had a wingspan of 60
    cm.

  • Caterpillar is the name given to the larva (grub)
    of a Butterfly or Moth. It must spend all this
    stage of its life feeding and growing. Most
    Caterpillars feed on leaves. Usually they will
    only eat one sort of leaf. As Caterpillars have
    very Caterpillars eyes are very small they are
    not aware of very much ! Caterpillars have very
    many enemies such as Birds which theyre tasty.

The Fly.
  • There is 90,000 species of Fly. They have 1 pair
    of transparent wings. Flys larva are legless
    grubs or maggots.
  • The different species of Fly is houseflies, gnats
    and midges, craneflies, horseflies, fruitflies,
    bluebottles and Dungflies.The main feature of a
    true flys is that they only have 1 pair of
    wings.

Spiders.
  • All Spiders spin silk threads. Many of them use
    the threads to make a web to catch its prey.
    (Insects.) There are about 30, 000 types of
    Spiders. Small Spiders lay about 1-10 eggs while
    other Big Spiders lay 2000 or more. When a Spider
    catches something it stuns or kills it with a
    poisonous bite.

The Slug.
  • The Slug is related to the Snail but the Slug has
    not got a shell and the Snail has.The Slug eats
    vegetation and lives in damp places.Some spend
    most of their lives underground, while others
    climb trees in search of food. The Great grey
    Slug (picture) can grow to 10 cms long. The Slug
    has enemies, the Bird!

The Bee.
  • Honey-bees, and their close relatives, the
    Bumble- bees, like ants and termites, live in
    family groups. Bees and wasps are actually
    different Bees have a fluffy fur and wasps have a
    scaly skin. Bees also are bigger than wasps. They
    are like us though because they both have a
    Queen.
