    struggled all his adult life with a weight
    problem. He got stuck in the White House bathtub
    and had to have an oversized version brought in
    for his use.

    a slow approach to problem solving. (led to
    conflict with the progressives)
  • Taft wanted to lower tariffs but he faced some
    issues. (Speaker of the House, Joseph G. Cannon
    democrat)

    Cannon. However, they became upset with Taft when
    he stopped the campaign (however, Cannon did
    allow the bill to lower tariffs pass)
  • Payne Aldrich Tariff (cut tariffs hardly at
    all) raised some tariffs instead of lowering
    them. Taft had further alienated progressives.

    charged Ballenger had tried to turn over valuable

    his own profit.
  • Taft fired Pinchot for insubordination
