Step 1 Your COMPASS Access Codes
Your guidance counsellor will give you a
confidential letter containing your access codes

• PIN (Personal Id )
• School Number
• Student Number

Your PIN is confidential! Dont share it with
anyone else!
These numbers allow you to access your
COMPASS.101 application.

Step 2 Research Your University Options

• Read INFO and the COMPASS.101 Companion
  Booklet.
• Check out university publications, websites and
  tours.
• Talk to counsellors, family, teachers and
  friends.
• Write down your program choices and
  codes and keep them handy.

You can use the Fast Track option when you know
the program code.

Step 3 Mark Your Calendar

• October/November 2005 Schools distribute
  COMPASS.101 access codes.
• January 11, 2006 Latest date to submit completed
  on-line applications to the OUAC.
• February 7, 2006 Recommended last day to make
  changes to your application.
• May 12, 2006 Earliest date by which the
  universities require a response to early offers
  of admission.
• June 2, 2006 Date by which the universities must
  respond to your application for admission.
• June 12, 2006 Earliest date by which the
  university may require a financial commitment
  from applicants.

Paying for your application
You have the following three options

• VISA / MasterCard You will need the card number,
  expiry date and the cardholders name.
• 2. Internet / Telephone Banking
  You will receive an account number
  from the OUAC as soon as you submit
  your application.
• 3. Cheque / Money Order You must send the cheque
  or money order by mail within two weeks of
  submitting your application electronically.

To use the Fast Track option, enter your program
codes one per box.

Once Youve Selected a Program
Complete the program details requested for each
program selected and add the choices to your
virtual knapsack.
Click on the Help link at any time for more
information.

Viewing Your Knapsack Contents
You can also add or remove programs from your
knapsack, or change their details. Theres no
commitment until the next step.

The Final Steps
Once youve selected your programs, youre ready
to prepare and submit your application following
these six steps below
Enter your e-mail address accurately. The OUAC
and the universities will correspond with you via
e-mail during the application process.
1. Move your knapsack choices to your actual
application.
3. 4. Your school may have already provided
much of this data. Check it for accuracy and make
changes where necessary.
5. The universities require you to answer ten
questions. (Dont worrytheyre easy!)
2. Number your choices in order of preference.
This doesnt affect admission or scholarships
unless the university specifies this in their
literature.
6. Report errors to your guidance office.

Submitting Your Application
You must click on this button at the bottom of
the verification screen to proceed to the payment
screen.
Once you click Submit, you will verify all the
information on your application. Print it for
your records. To make changes, return to the
specific application steps.

Payment
Once you have chosen your method of payment, you
must read the conditions outlined and click on
The OUAC cannot process your application without
the application fee.

Finishing Up

• Print the screen displaying your OUAC Reference
  Number (2006-xxx-xxx) and further
  instructions its the screen right after the
  Submit step.
• Record this PIN and store it in a safe place. You
  will need it to review your application and
  respond to offers of admission.
• Use your OUAC Reference Number and PIN to access
  the on-line Review and Change Your Completed
  Application system.
