Danish Reserve ForcesThe future
  • Reserve personnel will continue to be of great
significance to Danish Defences task performance
in relation to international missions, but also
in relation to the training of Danish Defence
units and total defence. As a result of the
demobilisation of the mobilisation defence and
affiliated structures, the quantitative need will
decline and for this reason the number of reserve
officers in the structure is to be adjusted
    during the accord period.

The Redefined Conscription
23
Cooperation between the Danish Armed Forces and
the civilian industry
  • INTERFORCE is a cooperation between the Danish
Armed Forces and the civilian industry.
  • INTERFORCE was established in 1999 as a direct
consequence of the emerging role of the DAF
    participating in several international
operations. Very soon it was clear fact, that the
number of theatres would demand the use of
    reservists thousands of reservists who
alongside their civilian employment from time to
time (periodically and through contractual terms)
would be willing perform military service abroad.
  • Presently the INTERFORCE initiative is supported
by 1.734 companies, organisations and public
institutions etc. who all together do employ
approximately 1 million men and woman. This
number should be compared to the total Danish
    population being approximately 5,4 million
    people.

24
Fellow-Soldier Support FSS
  • Privately organized with Blue Barretts as main
organizer supported by HPRD, HOD, CS, HKKF.
  • FSS was established in 2002 as a direct
consequence of the emerging role of the DAF
    participating in several international operations
and that an increasing number soldiers got after
mission reactions that maybe just need someone
    to talk to.
  • FSS has an always open telephone-line, arranges
trips to former mission areas (Bosnia, FYROM
etc.) and organises special trips for personnel
    with heavy post traumatic syndroms.
  • FSS receives approx. 1 mio. Euro a year via the
Defence budget, mentioned directly in the annual
    state budget.

24
25
Defence AcademyIMP faculty
  • IMP includes Social workers and Psychologists.
  • IMP was established in 1970, reorganized several
times, but realizing the emerging role of the DAF
    participating in several international operations
it became a clear fact in 2005, that the number
of social and psychological damages among
soldiers in UN and NATO service required a more
effective and energetic organisation, why the
manning was raised to 12 P and 25 SW.
  • The single soldier, his family, his mother, his
friends etc. can call IMP for assistance or just
to report about a serious event.

25
26
Soldiers FundSF
  • SF was established in 2008.
  • Donations given by Companies, Enterprises or
    Individuals.
  • In total 1 mio. Euro is donated.
  • Given to families, individuals, support to house
rent, repair of house/car etc. unlimited reason
for the support every single case or enquiry
    will be evaluated.

26
27
Legal Aspects/Regulations
  • Employees in municipality, region, state and
church are guaranteed up to 3 years leave and
promised to return to at least a similar position
in the context of joining a UN/NATO mission or an
international organization (UNHCR, FAO, MSF, OSCE
    etc.).
  • Such promises are not stated in the agreements
between the counterparts on the civil labour
    market.
  • But, many enterprises have stated such rights in
    their internal staff member handbook.
