What Does The Digestive System Do?
The digestive system makes food become energy and
that energy feeds the cells.

Parts Of The Digestive System.

• The digestive
• system contains
• mouth
• esophagus
• stomach
• small intestine
• large intestine

What Does the Mouth Do?

• In your mouth
• the mouth takes the food we eat
• the molars chew it into a wet ball
• and the tongue pushes it down into your esophagus.

The Esophagus

• Your esophagus moves food from your mouth to your
  stomach. When it enters your esophagus, muscles
  on the wall wave and slowly squeeze it down the
  esophagus in about two seconds.

Stomach

• Your stomach does three things
• breaks down the food you eat.
• stores the food you eat
• releases liquid into the small intestine

The Small Intestine

• Did you know your small intestine is one to two
  inches around? It is under your stomach. The
  small intestine breaks down food so the body can
  get all the vitamins.

Large Intestine

• After the food goes to the cells, the waste
  goes to the large intestine. The waste gets
  smaller, wider and drier. The water is squeezed
  out, and then it goes down the toilet.
