all joy and peace in believing, that you may
abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

be filled with anticipation - having a
confidence in obtaining what is hoped for and
what is expected

Lord, I believe you are good and you desire to
release into my life wonderful, unimaginable,
miraculous, great, and mighty things. Today I
pray with large expectation by the power of the
Holy Spirit Enlarge my vision increase my
faith secure my future.

The Foundation of Expectation is Desire

intension, determination, aim
- to resolve

4 Types of Desires
1) Evil desires (illicit cravings)
(Col. 35) Therefore put to death your members
which are on the earth fornication, uncleanness,
passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is
idolatry.

2) Misdirected desires (misplaced)
(Ps. 7829) So they ate and were well filled, For
He gave them their own desire.
(Phil. 23) Let nothing be done through selfish
ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let
each esteem others better than himself.
God wont fight you forever!

3) Unfulfilled desires
(Prov. 1312) Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
People stop desiring because of
a. failure
d. oppression
b. offense
e. pessimism
c. disappointment
f. depression

between a factual statement and a value statement
4) Godly desires
(Ps. 374) Delight yourself also in the LORD, And
He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Two Interpretations
1) Your life is so lined up with Gods will that
He will give you the desires that are contained
in your heart.
2) Your life is so lined up with Gods will that
He reaches into Himself and gives you desires to
be placed in your heart.

Prerequisites for releasing / embracing Godly
desires
(Ps. 373-7a) Trust in the LORD, and do good
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall
give you the desires of your heart. Commit your
way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall
bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your
righteousness as the light, And your justice as
the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently
for Him

1. Delight yourself in the Lord.
(Ps. 374) Delight yourself also in the LORD, And
He shall give you the desires of your heart.
God is intended to be our ultimate desire.

2. Commit your way to the Lord
(Ps. 375) Commit your way to the LORD, Trust
also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Acknowledge His authority
3. Trust in Him.
(Ps. 373) Trust in the LORD, and do good Dwell
in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
If you trust Him youll obey Him.

4. Rest in the Lord
(Ps. 377) Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently
for Him
Fully depend on Him.
(Is. 4031) But those who wait on the LORD Shall
renew their strength They shall mount up with
wings like eagles, They shall run and not be
weary, They shall walk and not faint.

The fundamental issue in our pursuit of true
pleasure is the conversion of our desires.
Our fundamental challenge is not doing more to
be satisfied, but in deciding what satisfies.

(Ps. 631-8) O GOD, You are my God Early will I
seek You My soul thirsts for You My flesh longs
for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is
no water. So I have looked for You in the
sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You
while I live I will lift up my hands in Your
name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow
and fatness, And my mouth shall praise You with
joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I
meditate on You in the night watches. Because
You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of
Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close
behind You Your right hand upholds me.

(Ps. 367-9) How precious is Your lovingkindness,
O God! Therefore the children of men put their
trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are
abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your
house, And You give them drink from the river of
Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of
life In Your light we see light.

(Ps. 348-9) Oh, taste and see that the LORD is
good Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh,
fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want
to those who fear Him.
The foundation of expectation is desire.
Therefore, delight yourself in the Lord and He
will give you the desires of your heart.
