Title: CP VIOLATION.

1
CP VIOLATION.
  • Baryon number (B)
  • Equal to 1 for a quark and -1 for an antiquark.
  • Conserved
  • Pair production Net B 0 before and after.
  • but not exactly conserved.
  • CP violationfirst observed in 1964.
  • Antiquarks very rarely become quarks (but not
    vice versa).
  • Cosmology. (Andrei Sakharov-1967).
  • Asymmetry occurs at an early stage of the Big
    Bang.
  • Theory predictions range from 10-4 to 10-12
  • Most quarks annihilate, but a very few find no
    partners.
