Assessing Skin Burn

• The extent is assessed by - TBSA burnt
• gt20 - fluid loss - shock, gt 50 severe.
• Total thickness or Partial thickness
• The age of the patient
• Underlying disease states
• Presence of an inhalation injury.
• Infections

• First degree burn Epithelium only
• Second degree burn Ep upper dermis
• Third degree burn Deep dermis most adnexa -
  grafting
• Fourth degree burn complete loss of adnexa -
  grafting
