Cycle time. Why should we get all cycled up?
  • Everyone says it is important, but
  • We cant seem to agree on a definition
  • Cant seem to agree on standard metrics for the
    industry Open Sat example
  • Even with good intentions, working together to
achieve reduced Cycle Times is challenging at
    best
  • What can we do, where do we start.???

5
Cycle Time .a definition
  • CYCLE - A single occurrence of a periodically
    repeated phenomenon.
  • TIME - A non-spatial continuum in which events
    occur in apparently irreversible
    succession....New Colegiet Dictionary
  • Put Simply. The interval separating 2 points on
this continuum. Where as 1 point is the beginning
and 1 point is the end and a lot of production
stuff happens in the middle as quickly as
possible to drive cost and inefficiency out of
the system so we can make everyone happy and
    improve CSI!!!

OK so how do people really define CYCLE TIME??
6
Definitions cont.
  • The amount of time it takes to encrypt an EMS
file, listen to the voice of reason and reverse
that decision in a public forum.
  • Rick Tuuri, ADP
  • The amount of time it takes to ask for money for
a worthy cause, get the commitment and then the
    check.
  • Jeff Hendler, Famous industry Fundraiser

Cycle Time.. How do we define it?
  • How about this..
  • In the Collision Repair Industry, the term Cycle
Time refers to various intervals of time,
beginning when an accident occurs, until a
vehicle is returned to the consumer and the file
    is closed.
  • Why is it important?
  • If we reduce it we save/make money
  • We improve CSI

ideasso now what should we do?
  • Can we agree on how to measure it, how to report
it, and how to be judged on common criteria?
  • How can we work together to improve overall cycle
time not just our own little piece?
  • When will our industry come together and address
