What is SQ3R?
  • Method for extracting important information from
    non-fiction text.
  • Provides a warm-up to reading
  • Develops pre-reading questioning skills
  • The steps form a study-friendly note-taking
    system
  • Easily integrated into Cornell Notes format

Survey the Assignment
  • Scan the assignment looking for the titles,
    subtitles, pictures, captions, diagrams, words in
    bold or italic, or even words with pronunciation
    keys.
  • In a textbook, skim the end of section or end of
    chapter questions.
