What is a Stroke?
  • A part of the brain is cut off from blood and/or
    oxygen as a result of
  • Blood clot
  • Blood vessel bursting
  • Brain tissue is damaged, affecting the
    corresponding functions

Foot Problems
  • May develop when the primary motor cortex is
    damaged
  • Mainly consists of muscle irregularities
  • Toe curl
  • Dropped foot (difficulty with dorsiflexion)
  • May develop into other conditions, such as foot
    ulcers

Ways To Help
  • AFOs with dorsiflexion assist
  • Shoe insoles
  • Take pressure off stressed areas to prevent
    ulcers/infections
  • Specially designed shoes
  • Provide extra room for toes (Toe curl)
