  • Our skin constantly makes oil that stays on its
    surface.
  • The germs that get on your skin get trapped in
    the oil.
  • Skin does not have to look dirty to be loaded
    with tiny germs that can cause big problemslike
    colds, diarrhrea, and more serious diseases.
  • Washing your hands with soap and warm water is
    one of the best things you can do to stay healthy

  • We are all usually in a hurryto eat,to get back
    to work, to make that important meeting.
  • Too often we forget or "don't have time."
  • Or we think a quick cold water rinse will do.
    But that doesnt cut it ...literally.

General Tips For Handwashing
  • The Centre for Disease Control suggests
  • It is best to wash your hands with soap and clean
    running water for 20 seconds.
  • However, if soap and clean water are not
    available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to
    clean your hands.
  • Alcohol-based hand rubs significantly reduce the
    number of germs on skin and are fast-acting.

When washing hands with soap and water
  • Wet your hands with clean running water and apply
    soap.
  • Use warm water if it is available.
  • Rub hands together to make lather and scrub all
    surfaces.
  • Continue rubbing hands for 15 to 20 seconds.
  • Need a timer? Imagine singing "Happy Birthday"
    twice to a friend.
