  • US had close economic, historical and cultural
    ties with the Allies, (especially Britain and
    France)
  • Germans seen as aggressive, cruel and
    undemocratic they needed to be stopped

What impacts did the war have on the US? (Society
as a whole)
  • People had to ration their food and gasoline
  • Industries had to mobilize for war (begin making
    more weapons war supplies)
  • Many young men enlisted or were drafted
  • People bought war bonds to help support the war

civil liberties)
  • First amendment rights restricted in the name of
    national security (Espionage and Sedition Acts).
    Many people are arrested/fined for speaking their
    minds.
  • Crackdown on dissent and protest against the
