Introduction

• We have just five days to our very short weekend
  meeting
• The last three plus months weve had an
  opportunity to prepare for this gospel meeting.
• The last three months weve had an opportunity to
  pray for its success.

• Now, the time is at hand
• Are we prepared for this meeting?
• What more can be done between now and when the
  meeting begins?

Purpose of Our Meetings

• To evangelize the word so souls can be saved or
  restored.
• Remember, the purpose of coming together is to
  preach the gospel that souls would be saved.
• There may be visitors who come with this as their
  ONLY chance to hear the message of salvation.
• How you behave (in words, demeanor, etc.) can
  influence people to give themselves over to the
  Lords calling or be hindered from it.

Purpose of Our Meetings

• Edify the saved.
• Whether the message includes truths weve heard
  for many years or things that we (personally) may
  be learning for the first time it should always
  be refreshing to be taught Gods will.
• Our attitude is to be stirred up in this matter
  for the purpose of edification. Cp. 1 Cor. 1426
  2 Pet. 112-15

Are We Prepared for this Meeting?

• Expectations that we should have for this
  meeting.
• That visitors from the community attend this
  meeting.
• That the gospel preacher is prepared to
  effectively teach Gods word.
• That all (or nearly all) of our brethren attend
  the meeting.

• What have we done to ensure that the meeting is
  successful in meeting the above expectations?
• What have we done to allows visitors from the
  community to come?
• What have we done to help the preacher prepare
  himself to evangelize to our visitors and/or
  edify the souls of the saints.
• What have we done to make it a point to be at
  this meeting as we do every time we normally
  meet? Cp. Lk. 1415-24

• What can be done during the meeting?
• Regarding our visitors
• Come early and stay later to greet visitors.
• Sit in a place that will allow our visitors to be
  comfortable and welcomed when coming into a new
  (strange) environment.
• Use our homes as a place of hospitality after the
  meetings.

• Regarding the gospel preacher
• Encourage him with the effort he has made to
  preach Gods word to us.
• Provide him specific statements hes made (or
  things he has done) that specifically encouraged
  you.

• Regarding the service itself
• Give yourself over to singing and praying. Cp.
  Jn. 423-24 Acts 1711
