Membership of NCUK

• UK Company owned by 12 universities based
  in the north of England
• Created in 1987 to facilitate international
  collaboration
• Run courses in collaboration with
  overseas delivery partners to prepare
  students for study in its member universities

A brief history of NCUK

• Established in 1987 for Malaysia project
• split UG degrees for government sponsored
  students
• 25 programmes, 600 students a year
• 40 progression routes -12 NC members 30 other
  UK Unis
• 1995 Introduction of IFY
• offered in Kenya, Jordan and Pakistan
• 1997 Asian Economic Crisis
• Malaysia contract ends
• 1999 The move into China in partnership ACE
• By 2002/03 running 7 NCUK programmes in 5 cities
  with ACE and one programme with Sea Rich
• 2003 agreed to form closer ACE/Northern
  Consortium partnership for future expansion
• Formation of UKUP (China)
