  • 95 of Cervical Cancers result from Human
    Papilloma Virus
  • Invasive cancer usually diagnosed 2 decades after
    initial infection
  • 2 vaccines currently licensed Gardasil (HPV
    6,11,16 and 18), Cervarix (HPV 18 and 18)
  • Cervical cancer screening programme across the
    U.K.

U.K. Immunisation Programme
  • Cervarix vaccine (HPV 16 and 18)
  • Vaccinating 12-13 year old school girls
  • Aim for 80 uptake
  • 2 year catch up campaign for girls under 18 (3
    years in Scotland)
  • Course of 3 vaccines (80 each)
