Electronic Receipt Process NIH Steps
  • Grants.gov does not check for Agency-specific
    rules
  • Application can be accepted by Grants.gov but not
    by the Agency
  • When submission to Grants.gov is successful
  • NIH retrieves the application package from
    electronically Grants.gov
  • eRA software checks the application against NIH
    business rules
  • If it passes, eRA creates the 424RR-based grant
image from application and Commons data
  • NIH notifies Principal Investigator and Signing
Official via email to check the eRA Commons for
    results of NIH rule checking

10
E-Receipt Process Steps in Commons
  • Check e-application status in the eRA Commons
  • A) If application does not pass NIH rules,
    errors and warnings are listed
  • Fix errors using Pure Edge or SP system
  • Resubmit to Grants.gov
  • B) If the application passes NIH rules,
    424RR-based grant image appears
  • Principal Investigator and Signing Official
    review application
  • If acceptable, PI and SO verify application in
    Commons
  • If not
  • Reject in Commons
  • Make changes
  • Resubmit to Grants.gov

11
E-Receipt Process After Verification

    image are saved
  • Data are then moved into eRA downstream modules
