  • MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY
  • The mission of Texas AM-Kingsville is to
    develop well-rounded leaders and critical
    thinkers who can solve problems in an
    increasingly complex, dynamic and global society.
    Located in South Texas, the university is a
    teaching, research and service institution that
    provides access to higher education in an
    ethnically and culturally diverse region of the
    nation. Texas AM-Kingsville offers an extensive
    array of baccalaureate and masters degree
    programs and selected doctoral and professional
    degrees in an academically challenging,
    learner-centered and caring environment where all
    employees contribute to student success.

    Ed, PhD Wildlife Sciences)
  • BS in Architectural Engineering approved by BOR
    and THECB
  • PharmD approved by BOR and submitted to THECB
  • SACS off- and on-site reviews successfully
    completed
  • CSDO, Social Work and Dietetics programs
    re-accredited
  • Competitive salaries offered to new faculty
  • Mid-year raise (average 5)
  • Implementation of SCT Banner continued
  • Renovation of Kleberg Building began
  • Enrollment at TAMU-K System Center reached 977
    (fall)
  • Undergraduate and graduate program reviews
    completed
  • Continued phase-out of Industrial and Nat Gas

  • Funded 25 doctoral assisantships to support
    research funded 50 graduate scholarships
  • Hired an additional staff member in ORSP
  • Awarded internal grants totaling 100,000 to 10
    faculty
  • Published the universitys first research
    magazine, Discovery
  • Generated 13.2M in external funding compared to
    9M in FY04

  • Delete or re-direct low-productivity programs
  • Develop new programs based on needs assessment
  • Expand educational opportunities through distance
    education and international studies (study
    abroad)
  • Extend 5 chair appointments to 12 months
  • Improve technology and services to support
    academic programs

  • What are the alternatives?
  • There are no prizes for predicting rain -- only
    for building arks. (NOAH Principle)
  • There are no rewards for promises only for
    successful outcomes.
  • Past performance is the best predictor of future
    results.
