MARCENT is.
  • A stand-alone staff that focuses on Service
    Component responsibilities in the CENTRAL COMMAND
    AOR.
  • LtGen Sattler is Dual-Hatted as CG, I MEF AND
    serves as the Commander, U. S. Marine Forces,
    Central Command (COMUSMARCENT) when designated.
  • LtGen Sattler, SgtMaj Kent and HMCM Sanchez are
    the only I MEF staff that have this dual
    relationship

MARCENT MEDICAL BILLETS
  • LT Chavis- The only medical person at the MARCENT
    HQ. Responsibilities include
  • Caretaker of Force Surgeon/Force Health
    Protection issues/responsibilities.
  • G-4 Medical Ops section/Medical logistics.
  • Medical Plans section- TPFDD/force rotation of
    medical units through the MPG (MARCENT Planning
    Group).
  • Medical Admin- Coordinates all medical
    screenings of permanent party staff and IA
    Marines that screen through Tampa. Also acts as
    command Patient Admin Officer.
  •  Incoming Billets
  • LT Rod Salvador (Med Planner)- From 3rd MAW in
    Okinawa will report to MARCENT in Nov 05.
  • CAPT Robert Culligan, a reservist and former
    Marine AW Flight Surgeon/ER Doc in Afghanistan
    under MARCENT last year will be the MARCENT Force
    Surgeon.   
  • HM 8404 Medical Admin- MCCDC advised that the
    billet is currently occupied at MARFORPAC and can
    not be filled until spring/summer 06.

RECENT PROJECTS
  • Assist visit made to Kuwait to help the MARCENT
    Detachment, Kuwait, CFLCC, and EMF Dallas find
    resolutions to patient admin issues concerning
    MEF Marines that were medevaced from Iraq.
    Results included tremendous improvements to the
    health and welfare of the injured Marines.
  • OPORD-14 OPT- MARCENT Medical rep for the Camp
    Lemonier, Dj transfer from USMC to NAVCENT.
    MARCENT is planning to turn over Command and
    Control of Camp Lemonier to NAVCENT NLT Oct 05.
    Currently MARCENT provides responsibility for
    repairs, replacements, maintenance etc to the
    EMF. Once NAVCENT assumes C2, USMC will not be
    responsible for any repairs, replacements,
    maintenance, etc.

RECENT PROJECTS
BRIGHT STAR 2005 
  • MARCENT coordinating USMC support with NAVCENT.
  • A USMC MEU to participate.
  • All ashore level II and III capability will be
    provided by the Army.
  • A Combat Support Hospital (-) will be located at
    MMC and will provide level I-III care for all
    units participating in this exercise.
  • SPOD/APOD will have small level I-II clinics
    available.
  • Ashore air and ground evacuation will be
    provided by the Army.

MEDICAL ISSUES
  • Occasional complaints received from forward
    medical units stating that members have reported
    without required immunizations, adequate malaria
    chemoprophylaxis (for applicable areas) or
    chronic medications.
  • Members being deployed with original medical
    records- CENTCOM instructions state that members
    must deploy with skeleton medical records.
  • Active duty and/or civilians being deployed with
    medical issues that overwhelm in-theater medical
    assets.
  • Expired physicals and annual dental exams.
  • Climate and/or environment damaging equipment,
    consumables, and medications/immunizations

RECENT ISSUES
PLANNING CONFERENCE 
  • 06-08 CENTCOM AOR Theater Conference in SW Asia.
  • Held in Oct 2005.
  • Health Service, HQMC will attend
  • Discussion topics will include Level III issue
    in Marine AO between MNCI, CENTCOM, MARCENT, and
    HQMC Medical Planner.
  • Other identified issues from conf as well as
    transition of Camp Lemonier to NAVCENT.
