R800 on final approach
  • The most complex EMP release to-date
  • R800 is in landing mode and firmly on track to
    deploy on 26 April.
  • Technical and Business Deployment decision points
    commence today
  • All Business Deployment activities are in GREEN
    status the first release to be in this position
    this early
  • User-acceptance and regression testing has now
    been successfully completed.
  • Even better MLC will not require an outage and
    will be available during upgrade to R800 through
    Web Services

WLR3 Product Establishment Process Improvement
  • Product Establishment (PE)
    process improvements
  • A faster PE process has been successfully piloted
    with CPs using a proven Third Party Integrator
    (TPI) solution. These changes have been
    incorporated in the PE process and will shortly
    be published.
  • The PE process including the Operational
    Readiness Testing (ORT) gate framework has been
    revised. This framework has been updated and
    simplified, PE tools to support efficient and
    consistent delivery management are in the process
    of being rolled out.
  • ISDN30 PE is now incorporated in the WLR3 PE
    process. ISDN2 PE process is currently under
    development.

  • Additional
  • CPs have access to the functional testing
    environment (CVF Customer Verification Facility)
    outside of PE for training purposes.

WLR3 and R900
  • Large demand on EMP has resulted in high influx
    of requirements
  • Design resources have been stretched to manage
    the scale and complexity of activity
  • Challenges exist in delivering some of the WLR3
    baseline

Service performance has been good overall
EMP availability for FY07/08 is estimated at
99.3 despite a challenging March. Across
Openreach, 98.1 of systems achieved their
service level targets with increasing order
volumes.

EMP DR/Resilience
  • EMP geographic resilience for Tier 1 (business
    critical) components now implemented. All agreed
    identified components have a) local server
    resilience Geographic DR capability and b)
    recovery plans procedures to implement the DR
    switchover. Six of the nine components have
    proven their DR capability via failover tests
    with the others planned for Q1.
