What is GPS?

• It is a network of satellites which
  continuously transmit information, making it
  possible to precisely identify locations on earth
  by measuring the distance from the satellites.

• Space 21 active satellites and 3 spares

• User the GPS receiver
• Current tracking/mapping system paper maps and
  experience.

• Comment area allowed extra information to justify
  score.
• Very detailed requirements (ex.100 users)
• Colour coordinated easily understood and can
  identify areas quickly.
• Evaluated aspects we may have otherwise
  disregarded as unimportant for our function.

  applicable to other FAGs.

• Mandatory field requirements demand compatibility
  with other petPRO systems however GPS hardware
  operates separately.
• It evaluates financial costs but does not
  evaluate potential benefits that petPRO will
  receive. Ex. Reduced overtime, reduced employee
  fraud, efficiency, etc.
• The need for references is not possible with
  brand new technology on the market. Creating low
  scores for new technology.
• Comment space was not large enough.
• The special features which make the technology
  appealing are not considered beyond basic
  functions of customization, security and end-user
  understanding.

• Provide comment space which can be enlarged
• Develop requirements for new technologies in
  which references are not applicable. Such as
  quality tests or technology standards.
• Involve the finance department to determine the
  Net Present Value of adopting this technology and
  whether it will be profitable.
• Provide standards for the hardware that may
  accompany the software.
• Define the relative importance of special
  features which could benefit the organization.

Recommendation

• Based on the template and the decision tables
  used to analyze our data we determined that
  Garmin Internationals Street Pilot 2660 top of
  the line GPS unit would be most beneficial to
  petPRO as a replacement of paper maps.
• It only received a low score because it is brand
  new technology without references.
